Role Description The Freelancer Tamil Translator will provide accurate and culturally sensitive translation from Tamil to English and/or from English to Tamil for various types of content, such as documents, marketing materials, subtitles, and digital media. Day-to-day tasks include reading and understanding source texts, translating and localizing content, ensuring consistency with terminology guidelines, and revising work based on feedback.

The role also involves proofreading translated texts, collaborating with project managers, and meeting agreed deadlines. This is a part-time, remote role, offering flexibility in working hours while requiring reliable availability to handle assigned projects.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Tamil and English, with excellent reading, writing, and comprehension skills in both languages.
• Ability to produce accurate, clear, and culturally appropriate translations across different content types (business, technical, marketing, and media).
• Competence in proofreading and self-editing to ensure grammatical correctness, stylistic consistency, and adherence to client guidelines.
• Familiarity with translation tools or CAT software and basic computer literacy for handling digital files and online platforms.
• Good time management, reliability in meeting deadlines, and capacity to work independently in a remote freelance setting.
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and openness to feedback and revision.
• Prior experience in professional translation, localization, or related language services is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Languages, Translation, Literature, Communications, or a related field is an advantage but not mandatory.
