About AI Training and Data Labeling

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review model responses, write high-quality examples, evaluate reasoning, and provide feedback that helps models produce more reliable results.

This role focuses on finance-domain evaluation and generation, including response ranking, expert explanations, and gold-standard examples. It is an opportunity to apply investment banking judgment to cutting-edge AI development through flexible remote work.

  • Evaluate and improve generative AI responses
  • Create expert examples for model training
  • Identify calculation errors, flawed assumptions, misleading conclusions, and bias
  • Help models produce clearer and more defensible financial analysis

The Investment Banking SME Role

OpenTrain is hiring an Investment Banking Subject Matter Expert to review AI-generated investment, banking, and corporate finance outputs and create expert finance content for model training. You will assess reasoning quality, valuation logic, deal structuring, capital markets concepts, and the decision usefulness of model responses.

The work also includes writing gold-standard explanations, model walkthroughs, investment memos, and pitchbook-style summaries. You will help validate outputs for accuracy, clarity, prompt adherence, calculation errors, flawed assumptions, misleading conclusions, and bias.

  • Review AI-generated finance answers for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to the prompt
  • Write high-quality explanations and model solutions demonstrating correct methods
  • Create prompts and gold-standard outputs for valuation, modeling, and investment memo tasks
  • Compare multiple responses and rank the strongest by reasoning quality
  • Assess narrative rigor, risk analysis, and the defensibility of conclusions

What You Will Evaluate

You will apply expert judgment across core investment banking and corporate finance workflows. Reviews should reflect clean financial logic, careful assumptions, accurate accounting linkages, and concise communication suitable for executive or investment decision-making.

  • DCF mechanics, WACC, terminal value, and common valuation mistakes
  • Trading comparables and precedent transactions, including peer selection and control premiums
  • Three-statement modeling, merger intuition, LBO basics, sensitivities, and scenario analysis
  • Income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, working capital, and debt schedule linkages
  • Clean sign conventions, unit checks, balanced outputs, and assumption-driven valuation
  • Clear English writing, concise executive summaries, and defensible investment memo judgments

Required Qualifications

This is an expert-level role for a finance professional who can independently assess complex analysis and explain the correct approach in clear English. The required background combines formal finance education with substantial transaction, research, corporate finance, or investment experience.

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • Five or more years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, equity research, or corporate finance
