Police Corporal

In accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement between Anne Arundel County and the Fraternal Order of Police, Anne Arundel County Lodge #70, Inc. (Article 10, Section 10.3), Proficiency Advancement to Police Corporal requires the successful completion of a pass/fail proficiency examination.<span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" data-pasted="true">Graduation from high school; successful completion of two years as an Anne Arundel County Police Officer First Class; two years as an Anne Arundel County Police Officer; and a valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license.</span><br><br><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" data-pasted="true">Note: Promotion to this classification requires an overall satisfactory on the employee's last Performance Planning and Appraisal Report and the successful completion of a proficiency examination.</span></span><br><br><strong>TESTING TIMELINE:</strong> Police Corporal: Officers who will achieve the required time in their current classification of POFC by March 31, 2027, are eligible to take the October 2026 proficiency advancement examination for Police Corporal. There are three (3) scheduled testing sessions: Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., and Friday, October 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. All exam sessions will take place at the Office of Personnel, 2660 Riva Road in Annapolis, Maryland. A review session has been scheduled for 11:15 AM on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Office of Personnel, 2660 Riva Road in Annapolis, Maryland. Candidates will have two (2) hours for the test review. <br><br><strong>Testing Process: </strong> All candidates must apply online at https://www.aacounty.org/personnel/employment-information/job-announcements. Click on Police Corporal to apply. Instead of including a social security number, candidates must use their badge number; the first five (5) digits should be replaced with 1's and the last four (4) digits replaced with the candidates' badge number. There will be no need to complete the education or work history portion of the application. Once the application has been submitted, candidates will receive a confirmation that the application has been received. Candidates will receive subsequent information on how to self-schedule for a test session. <strong>Candidates are required to present a valid driver's license or a county I.D., in order to sit for the examination, and for the review session.</strong> <br><br><strong>STUDY MATERIALS:</strong> Study materials consist of the following list of Index Codes.
