SAP Finance and Procurement Specialist - AI
We are looking for an SAP Finance and Procurement Specialist with hands-on experience in SAP's native AI capabilities, Joule, embedded ML, and business AI, who can also think beyond what SAP offers out of the box. This role sits at the intersection of SAP functional knowledge and AI-driven decision science. You will identify where SAP's intelligence stops and where BayesCompass's decision science layer begins and help design, validate, and deliver use cases that solve real finance and procurement problems.
The core responsibilities for the job include the following:
SAP Platform Expertise:
- Work across S/4HANA Finance (FI/CO), SAP Ariba, and SAP Concur in both cloud and on-premise deployments.
- Understand and articulate exactly what Joule, SAP Business AI, and embedded ML features do natively and where their limits are.
- Navigate SAP OData APIs, BAPIs, and RFC connections to understand how data flows in and out of SAP systems.
- Distinguish between what is available in RISE Private Cloud, public cloud, and on-premise S/4HANA 2023 environments.
AI Use Case Development:
- Translate real finance and procurement pain points into well-defined decision science use cases.
- Work with our data science team to validate which statistical and ML methods are appropriate for each use case: anomaly detection, forecasting, causal inference, and network analysis.
- Ensure every use case has a clear "what SAP does natively vs what BayesCompass adds" articulation.
- Review model outputs for business plausibility. Does this recommendation actually make sense for a finance or procurement leader?
Client and Delivery Engagement:
- Lead discovery conversations with CFOs, finance directors, and procurement leaders to understand their SAP landscape and AI maturity.
- Assess client readiness: are they on Joule already? Is it activated, and what data is available?
- Translate Decision Science outputs into language Finance and Procurement leaders act on, without unnecessary technical jargon.
- Support proof-of-concept builds and pilot validations on client SAP data.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the decision science team to ensure statistical models are grounded in correct SAP business logic.
- Partner with data engineering on SAP connector design OData, BAPI, and RFC integration patterns.
- Contribute SAP-specific domain knowledge to BayesCompass's growing library of finance and procurement use cases.
Requirements:
- AI experience is a must.
- 2 years of experience.
- Must be working under our payroll.
SAP Domain Experience:
- 3+ years' hands-on experience with SAP Finance (FI/CO) and/or SAP Procurement (MM, Ariba).
- Practical experience with SAP S/4HANA on-premise, private cloud (RISE), or public cloud.
- Working knowledge of SAP Joule: what it does, where it is activated, and what its actual scope is across.
Finance and Procurement modules:
- Understanding of SAP Business AI capabilities and their licensing and deployment model.
- Familiarity with SAP integration methods, OData APIs, BAPIs, and RFC, even if you are not the one writing the connector code.
AI and Analytics Literacy:
- Comfortable working alongside data scientists: you do not need to build the models, but you need to understand what anomaly detection, forecasting, and causal analysis can and cannot answer.
- Ability to assess whether a proposed AI use case is technically grounded or just a buzzword exercise.
- Experience translating business problems into structured, well-scoped use case definitions.
Communication and Client-Facing Skills:
- Comfortable presenting to CFOs, finance directors, and procurement leaders.
- Able to explain complex SAP and AI concepts in plain business language.
- Strong written communication: you will be documenting use cases, writing client-facing materials, and contributing to proposals.
