Senior Flutter Developer (Android + iOS)
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Android Developer who takes pride in building fast, reliable, and delightful mobile experiences at scale. You will own critical pieces of our Android codebase across one or more of our six apps, working closely with the team on performance, architecture, and craft. This is a high-ownership role for an engineer who has already shipped consumer apps at scale and is ready to independently drive technical decisions on major product bets. You will partner closely with Product, Design, Backend, and QA teams, and your code will run on the phones of millions of people every day.
The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:
App Development and Architecture:
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance native Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Architect scalable, modular, and testable codebases using MVVM/MVI and clean architecture principles.
- Own end-to-end feature delivery from technical design through release and monitoring.
- Build and maintain reusable components and libraries shared across our multi-app ecosystem.
Performance and Quality:
- Profile and optimise app performance: startup time, memory, battery, and rendering.
- Drive crash-free rates and ANR reduction through rigorous testing and monitoring.
- Write clean, well-tested code with strong unit and UI test coverage.
- Debug complex, production issues across devices, OS versions, and network conditions.
Collaboration and Technical Leadership:
- Partner with Product and Design to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Conduct code reviews and set the technical bar for the Android engineering team.
- Mentor junior developers and help level up engineering practices across the team.
- Collaborate with Backend teams on API contracts and with QA on release readiness.
Innovation and Best Practices:
- Stay current with the Android ecosystem and evaluate new tools, libraries, and patterns.
- Champion CI/CD, modularisation, and developer-experience improvements.
- Contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and onboarding for new hires.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience building native Android applications in production.
- Strong command of Kotlin, coroutines, and modern Android architecture components.
- Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose and/or the classic View system.
- Deep understanding of Android app lifecycle, memory management, and performance tuning.
- Experience with REST APIs, offline-first design, and local persistence (Room, DataStore).
- High ownership mindset with a track record of independently shipping high-stakes features.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with multi-module app architecture and dynamic feature delivery.
- Exposure to consumer apps with large user bases (1M+ DAU).
- Familiarity with Firebase, CI/CD pipelines, and crash-monitoring tools (Crashlytics, Sentry).
- Prior experience in social entertainment, gaming, or creator economy platforms.
- Experience at a high-growth startup (Series A-C stage).
- Experience mentoring engineers or owning Android architecture for a product charter.
