Writing Tutor

Responsibilities

Provide thorough, insightful, and actionable written feedback on student essays and writing assignments
Support students through asynchronous essay reviews following Upswing's tutoring philosophy
Meet synchronously with students via a virtual classroom to assist with writing development
Utilize the Socratic method to prioritize inquiry and higher-order concerns

Requirements

1+ year of college/university Writing Center tutoring and training experience
3.5 GPA or higher with a transcript demonstrating success in a writing-intensive program
Familiarity with the Socratic method of tutoring
Ability to review diverse writing topics including health sciences, history, and argumentative essays
Access to a laptop/desktop computer and fast, reliable internet
Proficiency with MS Word or Google Docs
Ability to receive payments via PayPal
Commitment to 15-25 hours per week during surge periods (February 1 - May 15)
